185th Connector &
1/2 Acre Community Park
98th Avenue & NE 185th Street Project
The area surrounding the Pop Keeney Stadium will see significant change in the redevelopment of downtown Bothell. A new connector road is planned to link the Stadium and the planned adjacent mixed-use development to the park, the river and the historic downtown core. This new curved street segment is located within the parcel the City purchased from the Northshore School District (NSD), adjacent to Pop Keeney Stadium and McMenamins. The new roadway will extend 98th Avenue NE north of NE 183rd Street to curve over to connect to NE 185th
Street at SR 527, greatly enhancing east-west traffic circulation and serving as a new transit route for King County Metro, Sound Transit and Community Transit buses (400 routes each day) connecting through downtown. The re-routing of buses reduces congestion on Main Street and better serves Pop Keeney, McMenamins and the new housing, workplace and retail development in the area.
A new ½ acre park and diagonal street with a tree-lined median extending northwest from the "bend" is included in the new roadway development, creating a wide open space for the community to enjoy.
